EnviroKids fun day with Bostik

On Saturday 12th December, EnviroKids magazine celebrated its 30th year of publishing in the environmental education field.

The event was hosted by the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve and facilitated by Freya Brett from the Environmental Education Centre.

Some 45 children comprising EnviroKids members and Eco-Schools learners from Cape Town and Hermanus had a wonderful morning of activities that foc

used on birds; and after a brief slide show about birds and their importance, and how to conserve them, the children went on a walk to identify the birds in the reserve.

Later, after a snack of fruit and fresh juice, they then launched into decorating cards with preprinted outlines of common birds and thanks to Bostik’s donation of Art & Craft White Glue and Bostik Glue Sticks, the children decorated their birds with feathers, eyes and Bling Bitz.

The pictures were finished off with Glitter Glue pens of various colours and the children then also made pledges, by drawing around their hands and writing a pledge in the outline. The morning included a Lucky Draw for a variety of prizes, the main ones being three lovely bags full of Bostik goodies and it was hard to tell whether the children or their parents were more delighted!

Finally, after filling up on birthday cake, each child left with a Goodie bag containing, amongst other things, a tub of Crazy Clay, a Bostik Glue Stick and a Bostik ruler. The partially-used White Glue and Glue Sticks left over from the craft activity were donated to the Education Centre for future use with visiting school groups.

Dr Roberta Griffiths – Editor of Envirokids -  thanks Bostik for the fabulous donation of products and contributing to the success of this special birthday party.
